The service is available as an add-on to the Business plan.
The Starter plan already includes the core of website management as part of its monthly payment. The main difference is that the Starter plan does not include the visual refresh provided every two years through the Website Management service.
Website management is not essential. Pelneth aims to build websites that do not require constant maintenance in the first place. The service exists for businesses that would rather have one less thing to worry about.

Website management is not simply a list of tasks performed every month.
The monthly payment is for having someone responsible for the website. The goal is to let the business focus on its own work without having to think about whether the website needs attention.
A business does not need to purchase management for a Pelneth-built website to keep using it. It is simply an option for having Pelneth continue to take responsibility for it.
What is managed
Pelneth handles the ongoing technical responsibility for the website.
This includes hosting, maintenance, compatibility, performance, accessibility, security, and other technical issues that may arise as the website continues to be used.
Content updates and other changes can also be handled when included in the management plan.
Built to need less maintenance
Pelneth tries to build websites that are straightforward and do not require unnecessary ongoing work.
Unnecessary dependencies, complexity, and technology can create more things that need to be maintained later. Keeping the underlying website simple where possible can reduce those problems.
The goal is not to create a website that needs constant attention and then sell maintenance to keep it running. The goal is to build it properly in the first place.
Website management simply provides an ongoing point of responsibility when a business wants one.
Keeping the website working
Websites do not stay exactly the same after launch. Browsers change, devices change, dependencies are updated, and the technologies websites rely on continue to develop.
A website should therefore not simply be built and forgotten.
Pelneth maintains managed websites so that problems can be addressed when they arise and the website can continue working properly over time.
Improving over time
A managed website can also benefit from improvements as better approaches become available.
Pelneth may update implementation, performance, accessibility, usability, or other parts of the website when there is a meaningful reason to do so.
These improvements are part of maintaining a website properly rather than a promise of a fixed number of changes each month.
Visual refresh
Every two years, websites covered by the Website Management service receive a visual refresh.
The refresh keeps the existing website and its purpose intact while bringing its visual design up to date. It can include changes to typography, spacing, layout, colors, imagery, and other visual elements where appropriate.
The refresh remains within the original scope of the website. The same pages, functionality, content, and fundamental requirements remain in place.
New pages, new features, or significant changes to the website are separate work.
The Starter plan does not include this two-year visual refresh.
Why Pelneth-built websites
Pelneth only offers website management for websites built by Pelneth.
This allows Pelneth to understand how the website was built and how its different parts fit together. There is no need to take responsibility for an unfamiliar codebase or technical decisions made by another developer.
